Our Sydney based Vindi association is one of many such Vindi associations world wide.

Our branch was founded in March 1995 at the inaugural meeting of about 20 NSW & ACT Vindi Boys, also present on the day was

Roy Derham (the UK founder & TS Vindicatrix president) at the the 'Orient Hotel' an old sailors pub adjacent to Circular Quay.

We hope our website will be of interest to all it's visitors but especially to those who 'WENT TO SEA' and those still 'GOING TO SEA'

And of course the two Aussies (that I know of) and the seventy odd thousand UK boys who went to the Vindicatrix Sea school.

The Training Ship VINDICATRIX

Lay in this peaceful and picturesque backwater of the Sharpness to Gloucester canal from 1939 to 1967

During that time some 76,000 15 to 17 year old hopeful boys trod her decks

to receive basic training before being sent to sea in Britain's Merchant Navy.
*****
This site is dedicated to all those Vindi Boys

but especially to those boys who in times of war went eagerly to sea never to return.

Sadly due to the loss of the Vindi's records we shall never know who or how many of those Vindi Boys never returned home.
They are remembered only by their families
